Description

From Assay Genie, this Cell-Based ELISA Kit is designed for the qualitative detection of MEF2B protein expression in cultured adherent cells, providing a lysate-free, high throughput workflow for cell biology and molecular biology research. The assay uses an indirect ELISA format in which MEF2B-specific primary antibodies capture the target and HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies catalyze a colorimetric reaction upon substrate addition, with absorbance read at 450 nm.

MEF2B (myocyte-specific enhancer factor 2B) is a DNA-binding transcription factor of the MEF2 family that activates transcription via the MEF2 element found in numerous muscle-specific genes, with 2 isoforms of the human protein produced by alternative splicing. The protein is involved in the regulation of gene expression, cell differentiation, and apoptosis, and its dysregulation has been implicated in cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and neurological disorders, making it a target of interest for drug development and therapeutic interventions. The associated gene maps to chromosomal position 19p13.11, with Gene ID 4207, UniProt ID Q02080, OMIM 600661, and Unigene Hs.153629; the listed isoform has a molecular weight of 39kDa.

Reactive with Human and Mouse samples, the kit is intended for epigenetics and nuclear signaling research and has a dynamic range of > 5000 Cells. A monoclonal antibody specific for human GAPDH is included as an internal positive control, and a Crystal Violet whole-cell staining method can be applied to determine cell density for normalization of absorbance values. The assay is supplied in a 96-Well Microplate format using a colorimetric detection method, and storage is at 4°C for 6 Months.
