Description

A Cell-Based ELISA Kit from Assay Genie for the qualitative detection of Keratin 16 protein expression in cultured cells. The kit employs a colorimetric detection method read at 450 nm, is supplied in a 96-Well Microplate format, and reports a dynamic range of > 5000 Cells. It is validated for Human, Mouse, and Rat reactivity and is intended for use with adherent cell samples.

Detection follows an indirect ELISA format: Keratin 16 is captured by target-specific primary antibodies, and HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies bind the Fc region of the primary antibody to catalyze a colorimetric reaction upon substrate addition. As a qualitative, lysate-free assay, the kit includes a monoclonal anti-GAPDH antibody to serve as an internal positive control for normalizing target absorbance, along with Crystal Violet whole-cell staining reagents to determine cell density and adjust readings for plating differences.

Keratin 16 (gene symbol KRT16) is a type I cytoskeletal keratin contributing to the structural integrity of epithelial cells, with documented roles in skin biology, wound healing, and cancer research. The kit is suited to screening the effects of various treatments, inhibitors such as siRNA or chemicals, and activators on Keratin 16 levels in cell culture. Storage is recommended at 4°C with a stability of 6 Months.
