Description

From Assay Genie, this Cell-Based ELISA kit provides a high-throughput, lysate-free, and sensitive method for detecting and measuring IRX1 protein expression in cultured cells. The assay uses an indirect ELISA format in which IRX1-specific primary antibodies capture the target and HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies catalyse a colorimetric reaction upon substrate addition. It is intended for use with adherent cells and shows reactivity with Human and Mouse samples. Detection is by colorimetric measurement at 450 nm, with a dynamic range of > 5000 cells. An anti-GAPDH monoclonal antibody is included as an internal positive control for normalising target absorbance values, and Crystal Violet whole-cell staining can be used to determine cell density for further normalisation.

IRX1 is a member of the Iroquois-class homeodomain protein family and functions as a transcription factor involved in development, cell differentiation, and tissue homeostasis. It has been identified as a tumour suppressor in gastric and head and neck cancers, and dysregulation of IRX1 has been linked to cancer, developmental disorders, and immune system dysfunction, making it a potential biomarker for disease progression and therapeutic targeting. The kit is suited to research applications across molecular biology, oncology, and developmental biology, including screening the effects of treatments, inhibitors (such as siRNA or chemicals), or activators on IRX1 expression. The protein has a reported molecular weight of 49 kDa (UniProt ID: P78414, Gene ID: 79192). The product is supplied in a 96-well microplate format and is stable at 4 °C.
