Published work has shown that ZFP64 sustains the leukemogenic program in MLL-rearranged acute myeloid leukemia, where it cooperates with the MLL-AF9 fusion oncoprotein to maintain self-renewal of leukemic stem cells. The transcription factor also functions as a Notch1 co-activator during T-cell specification, binding RBPJ and amplifying Notch target gene expression in developing lymphocytes.
