Quantitative measurement of Zinc-α2-glycoprotein (ZAG), the 41 kDa adipokine encoded by the AZGP1 gene, is supported by this research-grade immunoassay from Assay Genie. ZAG is a soluble glycoprotein secreted by epithelial cells of the prostate, liver, and several glandular tissues, and it circulates at measurable concentrations in human blood. It has attracted sustained research attention for its role in lipid mobilization, stimulation of adipocyte lipolysis, and the cachexia-associated weight loss observed in patients with advanced cancers.

The kit is intended for in vitro research applications and accommodates cell culture supernatant samples as well as plasma or serum specimens prepared from venous blood. Published investigations have used ZAG quantification to study prostate cancer progression, breast carcinoma biology, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, and metabolic disorders such as obesity and type 2 diabetes. The reagents are supplied as a complete assay bundle, and researchers should consult the enclosed protocol for recommended sample volume, dilution series, and component storage prior to first use.

Configured in a 96 assays kit format with a microplate for absorbance readout, the assay is suited to laboratory research only and is not validated for clinical diagnostic decision-making. Within an ELISA workflow, optical density readings are interpolated against a standard curve generated with the kit calibrators to determine ZAG concentrations in each unknown sample.
