Quantitative measurement of the XPD (Xeroderma Pigmentosum complementation group D) protein, also known as ERCC2, supports research into the nucleotide excision repair (NER) pathway. XPD functions as a 5' to 3' ATP-dependent DNA helicase within the TFIIH transcription factor complex, unwinding damaged DNA duplexes so that UV-induced pyrimidine dimers and other bulky lesions can be excised and resynthesized. Mutations in the XPD/ERCC2 gene underlie three clinically distinct disorders: Xeroderma Pigmentosum group D, Cockayne syndrome, and Trichothiodystrophy, all characterized by defective DNA repair with varying degrees of photosensitivity, progressive neurological involvement, and developmental abnormalities.

Assay Genie supplies this ELISA kit configured for in vitro research use only, intended to support quantitative studies of XPD protein expression. Investigators studying DNA repair capacity, genotoxicity, UV-induced cellular stress responses, and platinum-based chemotherapy resistance can use the kit to assess XPD protein abundance as a candidate biomarker for NER pathway competence. The kit is provided as a complete reagent set for 96 determinations, including all components required to perform the assay according to the supplied protocol.
