Human Wolfram Syndrome Protein 1 (WFS1) ELISA Kit

Wolframin, the protein product of the WFS1 gene, is a transmembrane glycoprotein localized to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. Loss-of-function mutations in WFS1 cause Wolfram syndrome, an autosomal recessive disorder presenting with early-onset insulin-dependent diabetes, progressive optic atrophy, diabetes insipidus, and sensorineural deafness. Research laboratories studying ER stress signaling, pancreatic beta-cell survival, and auditory hair cell biology use quantitative WFS1 measurement to investigate disease mechanisms and explore candidate therapeutic targets.
