Description

Assay Genie offers a Sandwich ELISA developed for the quantitative measurement of human Von Hippel-Lindau disease tumor suppressor (VHL) protein. The assay is reactive with human specimens and is intended for research use only. The kit is suited to studies in cancer biology, vascular disorders, and genetic syndromes involving this tumor suppressor.

Validated sample types include serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids. Specificity covers both natural and recombinant human VHL. The reported detection range is 0.156-10ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.078ng/mL. Precision is documented at an intra-assay CV of 5.2% and inter-assay CV of 9.7%. In serum, recovery averages 103% (range 97-109%), and in plasma it averages 105% (range 99-111%).

VHL acts as a target recruitment subunit within the von Hippel-Lindau ubiquitination complex, mediating proteasomal degradation of hydroxylated hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) under normoxic conditions. Mutations in the VHL gene are associated with von Hippel-Lindau disease, a rare hereditary cancer syndrome. By quantifying VHL levels, researchers can investigate the molecular mechanisms of this disease and explore potential therapeutic strategies.
