Vesicular Monoamine Transporter 2 (VMAT2) packages monoamine neurotransmitters—dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine, and histamine—into presynaptic vesicles for regulated synaptic release, and the Assay Genie Human VMAT2 ELISA Kit enables quantitative measurement of this transporter in human clinical specimens using a microplate-based colorimetric immunoassay.

VMAT2 is the molecular target of FDA-approved drugs including tetrabenazine and deutetrenazine for Huntington's disease chorea, so the kit is widely used in neurodegenerative-disease research, Parkinson's disease studies, addiction neuroscience, and investigations of mood disorders where monoamine signaling is implicated.
