The Assay Genie VISA ELISA Kit provides quantitative measurement of Virus-Induced Signaling Adapter protein (also known as MAVS), an approximately 60 kDa mitochondrial outer-membrane adapter essential for innate antiviral immunity. VISA acts downstream of the RIG-I and MDA5 cytoplasmic pattern-recognition receptors and upstream of TRAF3 and TRAF6, driving IRF3 and NF-kappa-B activation and type I interferon production. The kit supports research on viral replication, hepatitis C pathogenesis, and mitochondrial signaling dynamics in infected cells. Each run uses cell lysate or tissue homogenate prepared under non-denaturing conditions, with absorbance read on a standard microplate reader. Components are intended for in vitro research use only, and remaining standards should be aliquoted and stored at -20 degrees C to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
