Human VIP peptides (VIP) ELISA Kit

The assay is reactive with human specimens and validated for serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, with specificity for natural and recombinant human VIP peptides.

Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 1.56–100 pg/mL and a sensitivity of 0.78 pg/mL. Intra-assay CV is 4.3% and inter-assay CV is 7.8%. Dilution linearity has been demonstrated in serum (101–120%), EDTA plasma (81–119%) and heparin plasma (82–115%) across 1:2 to 1:16 dilutions (N=5). Recovery averages 95% for serum (range 89–101%) and 97% for plasma (range 91–103%).

VIP is a neuropeptide of the glucagon family. It causes vasodilation, lowers arterial blood pressure, stimulates myocardial contractility, increases glycogenolysis and relaxes smooth muscle of the trachea, stomach and gall bladder. PHM and PHV also cause vasodilation; PHM-27 is a potent agonist of the calcitonin receptor CALCR with similar efficacy to calcitonin. The protein is secreted and localised to the extracellular region, and the chromosomal location of the human ortholog is 6q25.2. For research use only.
