Villin 1 is a calcium-regulated actin-binding protein concentrated in the microvillar brush border of absorptive epithelial cells, where it cross-links and bundles actin filaments to stabilize the apical cytoskeleton. Expression of this 92 kDa protein is widely used as a marker of intestinal and renal tubular epithelial differentiation, and altered VIL-1 abundance has been documented in gastrointestinal and colorectal tumor studies, where it can serve as an indicator of brush border integrity and epithelial phenotype.

This Assay Genie ELISA Kit is configured as a quantitative immunoassay for measuring human Villin 1 in research samples, with a colorimetric readout captured on a standard microplate reader. The kit is supplied in a microplate layout sized for the assay count printed on the box and is validated for use with tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and cell culture supernatants prepared from human cells or tissue.

Researchers investigating enterocyte differentiation, gut barrier biology, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, or renal tubule injury can use the kit to track VIL-1 expression across treated and control samples in standard cell culture and lysis workflows, supporting studies of cytoskeletal remodeling, mucosal biology, and epithelial-derived cancer models.
