Human Versican core protein (VCAN) ELISA Kit

The assay uses a colorimetric ELISA detection method and is validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids.

Manufacturer-reported performance specifications include a detection range of 1.56-100ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.78ng/mL. Precision data show an intra-assay CV of 3.5% and an inter-assay CV of 6.4%. Linearity across dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16 (N=5) yielded: Serum 99-109%, 88-97%, 103-113%, and 110-120%; EDTA Plasma 89-101%, 107-117%, 95-105%, and 114-123%; Heparin Plasma 110-120%, 93-102%, 104-113%, and 86-96%. Recovery testing gave an average of 86% (range 80-92%) for serum and 88% (range 82-94%) for plasma.

Versican core protein is a major component of the extracellular matrix. It may play a role in intercellular signalling and in connecting cells with the extracellular matrix, and may take part in the regulation of cell motility, growth and differentiation. The protein binds hyaluronic acid.
