A quantitative immunoassay from Assay Genie for measuring the vasopressin precursor fragment copeptin (AVP-neurophysin 2-copeptin) in human serum or EDTA plasma. Copeptin is co-secreted in equimolar amounts with arginine vasopressin from the posterior pituitary but is far more stable in circulation, making it a reliable surrogate marker in cardiovascular, renal, and critical-care research. Common applications include risk stratification in acute myocardial infarction, severity grading in sepsis, differential diagnosis of diabetes insipidus versus primary polydipsia, and studies of hyponatremia and syndrome of inappropriate ADH secretion.

The microplate-based kit is supplied with pre-coated capture plates, lyophilized standards, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, TMB substrate, and wash and stop solutions sufficient for 96 assays run in duplicate. The assay shows no significant cross-reactivity with related neuropeptides such as oxytocin, and the capture antibody is human-specific, so it is not validated for rodent samples.

Reagents are shipped at ambient temperature in insulated packaging; once received, the lyophilized components and unopened kit box should be refrigerated (do not freeze the plate), while reconstituted standards and samples are best kept frozen in single-use aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles. Bring all reagents to room temperature before running the assay. The product is labeled for research use only and is not intended for clinical diagnostic decision-making.
