USP2 (Ubiquitin Specific Peptidase 2) belongs to the ubiquitin-specific protease family and functions as a deubiquitinating enzyme that removes ubiquitin chains from target substrates. The protease is implicated in regulation of cell cycle progression, DNA damage response, circadian rhythm, and lipid metabolism, and has been the subject of active investigation in prostate cancer, breast cancer, glioblastoma, and metabolic syndrome research.
