The Human UPF1 ELISA Kit from Assay Genie enables quantitative measurement of Up-Frameshift Suppressor 1, an ATP-dependent RNA helicase that serves as the central effector of nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD). UPF1 remodels mRNA targets harboring premature termination codons and recruits decay factors SMG5, SMG6, and SMG7 to initiate transcript degradation, linking this protein to mRNA surveillance, translation termination, and stress granule assembly.

This quantitative immunoassay supports research into NMD dysregulation across oncology, where altered UPF1 expression influences tumor suppressor and oncogene mRNA stability, as well as studies of premature termination codon disorders including Duchenne muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy, and beta-thalassemia variants. The microplate-based workflow is suitable for translational research laboratories investigating nonsense-mediated decay; reconstituted standards and detection antibody should be aliquoted, stored at -20 °C, protected from light, and limited to no more than 3 freeze-thaw cycles to preserve antibody binding activity.
