Assay Genie offers a quantitative immunoassay for measuring Uncoupling Protein 1 (UCP1), the brown adipose tissue-enriched mitochondrial carrier protein responsible for non-shivering thermogenesis in humans. UCP1, also called thermogenin, resides in the inner mitochondrial membrane where it dissipates the proton gradient as heat by uncoupling respiration from ATP synthesis, making it a focal marker in studies of energy balance, adaptive thermogenesis, and metabolic regulation. This in vitro research-use-only kit is configured for analysis of cell lysates and tissue homogenates prepared from human samples, supporting laboratories investigating brown adipocyte differentiation, beige fat biogenesis, and metabolic disease mechanisms including obesity and insulin resistance. The microplate format ships with all components required to complete the ELISA workflow and accommodates both cell culture models of adipogenesis and ex vivo brown fat tissue analysis.
