About UCK2: Uridine-Cytidine Kinase 2 (UCK2) is a cytosolic enzyme of the pyrimidine salvage pathway that catalyzes the ATP-dependent phosphorylation of uridine and cytidine to UMP and CMP. Elevated UCK2 activity has been reported in several solid tumors and is associated with the intracellular activation of fluoropyrimidine prodrugs such as 5-fluorouracil, which makes quantitative UCK2 measurement valuable for cancer cell metabolism and chemotherapy-sensitivity studies.
