The kit is intended for research use only and supports work in cancer research, where AGTR2 acts as a receptor for angiotensin II and cooperates with MTUS1 to inhibit ERK2 activation and cell proliferation. Dysregulation of AGTR2 has been linked to cardiovascular diseases, hypertension and other health conditions.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 1.56-100pg/mL and a sensitivity of 0.78pg/mL. Intra-assay CV is reported at 6.3% and inter-assay CV at 7.6%. Linearity has been evaluated in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma across dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16, with recovery of 89% (range 83-95%) in serum and 91% (range 85-97%) in plasma. The antibody pair shows specificity for natural and recombinant human Type-2 angiotensin II receptor, and the target is described as a multi-pass cell membrane protein that interacts with MTUS1. Defects in AGTR2 are the cause of mental retardation X-linked type 88 (MRX88).
