Description

Manufactured by Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA kit is designed for the quantitative detection of Human Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF), a key cytokine involved in inflammation, immune response, and cell death regulation. The assay is for research use only and is suitable for measuring TNF in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids with high accuracy and precision.

The kit uses a colorimetric detection method and reacts with human samples. The quoted detection range is 15.6-1000pg/mL, with a sensitivity of 3.9pg/mL. Intra-assay CV is 6.3% and inter-assay CV is 10.2%. Linearity has been demonstrated in serum (97-107%, 99-110%, 105-105%, 91-101% at dilutions 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, 1:16), EDTA plasma (111-120%, 90-102%, 85-97%, 95-105%), and heparin plasma (100-110%, 96-108%, 98-108%, 99-109%). Recovery ranges from 90-102% in serum (average 96%) and 92-104% in plasma (average 98%). The kit specifically detects natural and recombinant human TNF.

TNF-alpha, also known by synonyms including Cachectin, TNFA, TNFSF2, TNF-a, and Tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 2, is a homotrimeric cytokine (UniProt P01375) that binds to TNFRSF1A/TNFR1 and TNFRSF1B/TNFBR. It is mainly secreted by macrophages and is implicated in fever induction, cachexia, and various biological processes including cell death of certain tumor cell lines. The TNF intracellular domain form induces IL12 production in dendritic cells. Research applications include investigation of inflammatory diseases, autoimmune disorders, cancer, and neurosciences.
