This colorimetric immunoassay from Assay Genie quantifies transferrin levels across 96 assays per kit. Transferrin is the principal iron-transport glycoprotein circulating in vertebrate plasma, binding ferric iron and delivering it to receptors on erythroid precursors and other iron-requiring tissues. Quantifying circulating transferrin supports research into iron-homeostasis disorders, hepatic protein synthesis, inflammation-associated hypoferremia, and anemia of chronic disease.

The kit accepts multiple specimen matrices of human origin, including plasma samples, serum samples, and clarified cell culture supernatant. Researchers studying hepatic function, nutritional iron status, or pharmaceutical effects on iron metabolism can use this kit to generate standard curves and measure unknown transferrin concentrations using a microplate-based absorbance readout. Each plate contains pre-coated wells and reagents sufficient for the stated assay count.

Standard ELISA workflows apply: dispense specimen or standard into wells, incubate with supplied detection reagents, wash, add conjugate solution, develop with chromogenic substrate, and quantify by absorbance. The kit is intended for research use only and should be stored under refrigerated conditions to preserve antibody and protein reagent activity. Researchers should avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles of component vials and protect light-sensitive reagents from prolonged light exposure.
