Targeting the receptor also known as CD289 (UniProt Q9NR96), TLR9 is described as a key component of innate and adaptive immunity. It is a nucleotide-sensing Toll-like receptor activated by unmethylated CpG dinucleotides, acting via MYD88 and TRAF6 to drive NF-kappa-B activation, cytokine secretion and the inflammatory response, and controls the lymphocyte response to Helicobacter infection.
