Quantitative measurement of translocase of inner mitochondrial membrane 13 (Tim13) in human research samples is supported by the Assay Genie Human TIMM13 ELISA Kit. Tim13 is a small zinc-binding chaperone of the mitochondrial intermembrane space that forms a heterohexameric complex with its partner Tim8, functioning in the import and delivery of hydrophobic inner membrane proteins to the translocase complexes. Altered expression of Tim13 has been examined in studies of mitochondrial protein import, oxidative stress, neurodegeneration, and the broader TIMM8A-TIMM13 paralog family linked to syndromic hearing loss, including Mohr-Tranebjaerg syndrome.

This kit supports laboratory workflows investigating mitochondrial biology, mitochondrial import disorders, hearing loss mechanisms, and cellular stress responses. Researchers studying Parkinson disease models where mitochondrial import is compromised, age-related changes in cochlear mitochondrial function, or translational biomarker projects in metabolic and neurodegenerative disease will find the assay useful for hypothesis-driven work. The immunoassay is configured as a complete package with all reagents needed to perform the assay workflow, and ample wells are included on the microplate to run full standard curves alongside experimental unknowns in the same run.

Components should be stored refrigerated at 4 °C upon arrival, with working diluents kept cold and protected from light to preserve conjugate activity. Bring all reagents to room temperature before use, and aliquot reconstituted standards to limit freeze-thaw cycles, maintaining assay performance across multiple experiments. The assay is intended for research use only in laboratory settings and is compatible with standard ELISA workflow equipment including a microplate reader.
