Description

A sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie enables quantitative detection of human Thyrotropin subunit beta (TSHB) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The kit is also known by the synonyms Thyroid-stimulating hormone subunit beta, Thyrotropin beta chain and TSH-B, and is supplied for research use only.

Quoted performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.156–10 ng/ml and a sensitivity of 0.06 ng/mL. Reported precision values are an intra-assay CV of 5.3% and an inter-assay CV of 7.6%. Linearity has been assessed in serum (N=5) at dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16, giving recoveries of 94–103%, 97–107%, 81–93% and 80–89% respectively; in EDTA plasma (N=5) the corresponding values are 93–103%, 96–104%, 90–100% and 95–104%; and in heparin plasma (N=5) they are 101–113%, 100–112%, 108–119% and 96–105%. Average recovery is 95% (range 89–101%) for serum and 97% (range 91–103%) for plasma.

The assay is specific for natural and recombinant human TSHB. TSHB forms a heterodimer of a common alpha chain and a unique beta chain that confers biological specificity to thyrotropin, lutropin, follitropin and gonadotropin, and is indispensable for the control of thyroid structure and metabolism (UniProt P01222). The target falls within the Signal Transduction research area and is a secreted protein.
