Description

Assay Genie supplies a Sandwich ELISA Kit designed for the quantitative detection of human Thymidine phosphorylase (TYMP) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The colourimetric assay is intended for research use only and supports studies in which dysregulation of TYMP has been linked to cancer and inflammatory disorders, making it a valuable biomarker.

TYMP, also known by the synonyms Gliostatin, Platelet-derived endothelial cell growth factor, TdRPase, PD-ECGF, TP and ECGF1, is detected across a range of 1.56–100 ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.67 ng/mL. Reported precision is 4.9% intra-assay CV and 9.0% inter-assay CV. Linearity has been characterised in serum (N=5) at 93–105% (1:2), 101–110% (1:4), 81–93% (1:8) and 82–92% (1:16); in EDTA plasma (N=5) at 113–113% (1:2), 86–95% (1:4), 107–119% (1:8) and 96–108% (1:16); and in heparin plasma (N=5) at 90–100% (1:2), 106–116% (1:4), 89–102% (1:8) and 106–116% (1:16), with matrix recovery ranging from 83% to 97% (serum 83–95%, plasma 85–97%).

Specificity covers natural and recombinant human Thymidine phosphorylase, which functions as a homodimer with roles in pyrimidine nucleoside metabolism and angiogenesis. The protein is encoded by the TYMP gene at chromosomal position 22q13.33 (UniProt P19971), has a molecular weight of 50,405 Da, and is associated with research into cancer and Mitochondrial DNA Depletion Syndrome 1 (MNGIE type).
