Description

Assay Genie's Human Thrombospondin-4 (THBS4) ELISA Kit enables quantitative detection of THBS4 in human samples including serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants, and other biological fluids. THBS4, also known by the synonym TSP4, is an adhesive glycoprotein that mediates cell-to-cell and cell-to-matrix interactions and contributes to cellular proliferation, migration, adhesion, inflammatory responses to CNS injury, regulation of vascular inflammation, and adaptive responses of the heart to pressure overload, supporting myocardial function and remodeling. The kit is intended for research applications investigating the protein's involvement in angiogenesis, wound healing, and related cardiovascular conditions.

Built on a Sandwich ELISA format and reactive with human samples, the kit shows specificity for natural and recombinant human Thrombospondin-4. Performance figures include a detection range of 0.156-10ng/mL, a sensitivity of 0.045ng/mL, an intra-assay CV of 4.4%, and an inter-assay CV of 8.7%. Recovery has been documented at an average of 94% (range 88-100%) for serum and 96% (range 90-102%) for plasma. Linearity has been validated across serial dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16 in serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma samples.

The kit is associated with UniProt accession P35443. THBS4 is documented as an extracellular mitogen that stimulates early erythroid progenitor proliferation in the presence of EPO and binds fibrinogen, fibronectin, laminin, and type V collagen. The relevant research area is cardiovascular, and the protein's documented subcellular localisations include endoplasmic reticulum, sarcoplasmic reticulum, and the secreted extracellular space and matrix compartments. For research use only.
