Human Thrombomodulin (THBD) ELISA Kit

A sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of human Thrombomodulin (THBD) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids, offered by Assay Genie. The assay is reactive with human samples and detects both natural and recombinant human Thrombomodulin, which is also known by the synonyms Fetomodulin, CD141, TM and THRM.

Reported performance figures include a detection range of 0.312–20 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.12 ng/mL. Intra-assay precision is 6.4% CV and inter-assay precision is 11.3% CV. In spike-and-recovery testing, serum samples showed an average recovery of 112% (range 106–118%) and plasma samples an average of 114% (range 108–120%). Dilutional linearity was assessed across serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma at serial dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16.

Thrombomodulin is described as a specific endothelial cell receptor that forms a 1:1 stoichiometric complex with thrombin; this complex converts protein C to activated protein C (protein Ca), which in turn cleaves the activated coagulation cofactors Va and VIIIa, thereby reducing thrombin generation. The protein interacts with ITGAL, ITGAM and ITGB2 and is located as a single-pass type I membrane protein, with research applications in the cardiovascular area.
