The Assay Genie Human TfR/Transferrin R/CD71 ELISA Kit is built around a pair of capture and detection antibodies specific for human transferrin receptor 1 (TfR1), a homodimeric type II transmembrane glycoprotein of approximately 90 kDa per subunit that mediates cellular iron uptake through receptor-mediated endocytosis of diferric transferrin. The assay quantifies soluble and cell-associated CD71 levels, supporting research into iron homeostasis, erythropoiesis regulation, anemia of chronic disease, hereditary hemochromatosis, and tumor cell proliferation, where elevated TfR1 expression is a recognized indicator of iron-avid, metabolically active cells.

Validated across human cell culture supernatant, plasma-derived, and serum-derived matrices, the workflow begins by pipetting specimen and standards into the pre-coated microplate wells. Captured receptor is revealed with an HRP-conjugated secondary antibody and TMB substrate, generating an absorbance signal proportional to CD71 concentration. The kit is provided as a complete reagent set in ready-to-use vials, including the pre-coated plate, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, lyophilized standards, wash buffer, and substrate solution. Reconstituted components should be refrigerated upon receipt and, once opened, stored as frozen aliquots to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Intended for in vitro research use only, the microplate layout supports simultaneous processing of standards, unknowns, and internal quality controls in duplicate.
