Description

Designed by Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA Kit provides quantitative measurement of human Telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT), also known by the synonyms HEST2, TP2, EST2, TCS1, TRT, and Telomerase catalytic subunit. The kit uses a colorimetric detection method, is reactive with human samples, and shows specificity for natural and recombinant human TERT. Validated sample types include serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids.

Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.156-10ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.078ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is 6.7% and inter-assay CV is 10.2%. Linearity in serum spans 80-89% to 104-104% across dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16; EDTA plasma shows 99-108% to 104-114%; and heparin plasma shows 111-120% to 104-112% across the same dilution series. Recovery averages 99% (range 93-105%) in serum and 101% (range 95-107%) in plasma.

TERT is the catalytic subunit of the telomerase ribonucleoprotein complex, which extends telomeric 5'-TTAGGG-3' repeats at chromosome ends. The enzyme is active in progenitor and cancer cells but largely inactive in normal somatic cells, making it relevant to studies of cellular aging, telomere maintenance, and oncogenesis. The kit is intended for research use only, with applications in cancer research.
