The TAT (tyrosine aminotransferase) enzyme is a pyridoxal 5'-phosphate-dependent transaminase that catalyzes the first committed step in tyrosine catabolism, converting L-tyrosine to 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate in hepatocytes. As a sensitive indicator of hepatocellular injury, circulating TAT levels rise in acute liver damage, drug-induced hepatotoxicity, and inherited metabolic disorders such as tyrosinemia type II (Richner-Hanhart syndrome), where deficient activity causes systemic tyrosine accumulation and oculocutaneous lesions.
This Assay Genie kit provides researchers with a quantitative measurement tool suited to hepatic and metabolic disease studies, drug safety screening, and basic enzymology research. Reagents are supplied refrigerated and should be kept cold until use to preserve antibody binding activity and standard curve stability across the shelf life of the kit.
