Description

Assay Genie's sandwich ELISA kit is designed for the precise quantification of Synaptosomal-associated protein 25 (SNAP25) in human samples, including serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants, tissue homogenates and other biological fluids. Detection is colorimetric and the assay is reactive with human specimens, making it well suited to research into neurotransmitter release and synaptic transmission.

SNAP25 functions as a t-SNARE involved in the molecular regulation of neurotransmitter release and may play an important role in the synaptic function of specific neuronal systems. The protein associates with partners involved in vesicle docking and membrane fusion, and its dysregulation has been implicated in various neurological disorders, including Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia, and epilepsy. The kit specifically recognises natural and recombinant human SNAP25 (UniProt P60880) and is supplied for research use only.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.78-50ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.23ng/mL. Precision is reported as an intra-assay CV of 4.3% and an inter-assay CV of 7.5%. Linearity in serum (N=5) spans 97-107% at 1:2, 107-119% at 1:4, 84-93% at 1:8 and 110-120% at 1:16, while EDTA plasma shows 107-117%, 95-107%, 102-112% and 118-128% across the same dilutions, and heparin plasma 109-118%, 101-111%, 101-111% and 88-97%. Recovery averages 99% for serum (range 93-105%) and 101% for plasma (range 95-107%).
