Description

A sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative measurement of human Synaptopodin (SYNPO) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and is supplied for research use only, with documented application in neurosciences.

According to the manufacturer's specifications, the kit has a detection range of 0.156–10ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.097ng/mL. Reported precision is an intra-assay CV of 5.9% and an inter-assay CV of 9.3%. Linearity in serum (N=5) spanned 90–100% at 1:2, 100–111% at 1:4, 102–112% at 1:8 and 100–110% at 1:16 dilution; EDTA plasma (N=5) spanned 85–95% to 108–117% and heparin plasma (N=5) spanned 89–100% to 88–98% across the same dilutions. Recovery averaged 107% in serum (range 101–113%) and 109% in plasma (range 103–115%). The kit recognises natural and recombinant human Synaptopodin (UniProt Q8N3V7).

Synaptopodin is an actin-associated protein that may play a role in modulating the actin-based shape and motility of dendritic spines and renal podocyte foot processes, and appears to be essential for the formation of spine apparatuses in telencephalic neurons, a process involved in synaptic plasticity. Dysregulation of Synaptopodin has been linked to various neurological disorders, making it a valuable biomarker for studying these conditions and exploring potential therapeutic interventions.
