Assay Genie's research-use-only ELISA Kit enables quantitative measurement of human Synapsin I, a presynaptic phosphoprotein encoded by the SYN1 gene. Synapsin I is phosphorylated by cAMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA) and calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII), and it regulates synaptic vesicle trafficking, neurotransmitter release, and synaptogenesis in neurons.

Synapsin I levels serve as a marker for synaptic density and presynaptic function, and SYN1 mutations have been linked to epilepsy, autism spectrum disorder, and X-linked intellectual disability. Researchers use this kit to investigate neuronal development, synaptic plasticity, and disease mechanisms across neuroscience and neuropharmacology studies.

Validated for tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and cell culture supernatants, the kit supports work with primary neuron cultures, rodent brain tissue samples, and differentiated neural cell models. Detection uses an absorbance-based readout on a standard microplate reader, and the format is a complete 96-assay kit with all immunoassay reagents included.

Intended for in vitro research, this ELISA supports laboratories examining synapse biology, neurotransmitter regulation, and neuronal signaling pathways.
