Description

Designed for the accurate detection of SUMO-activating enzyme subunit 1 (SAE1), this Sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie offers high sensitivity and specificity for research applications studying the SUMOylation pathway. The kit is intended to detect SAE1 in human serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and shows specificity for natural and recombinant human SAE1. SAE1 forms a heterodimer with UBA2/SAE2 that mediates ATP-dependent activation of SUMO1, SUMO2, SUMO3 and probably SUMO4, a process relevant to research on cancer, neurodegenerative disorders and viral infections.

Manufacturer-reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.156–10 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.078 ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is 5.3% and inter-assay CV is 10.1%. Linearity in serum (n=5) spans 83–117% across 1:2 to 1:16 dilutions, with EDTA plasma at 86–114% and heparin plasma at 91–113%. Recovery averages 103% (range 97–109%) in serum and 105% (range 99–111%) in plasma.

The product is for research use only. SAE1 is localised to the nucleus, with the corresponding UniProt entry being Q9UBE0. Synonyms listed by the manufacturer include Ubiquitin-like 1-activating enzyme E1A, AOS1, SUA1 and UBLE1A.
