SUMF1 (Sulfatase Modifying Factor 1), also called formylglycine-generating enzyme (FGE), drives the post-translational activation of sulfatases by oxidizing a conserved cysteine residue to formylglycine in the enzyme active site. Mutations in the SUMF1 gene produce multiple sulfatase deficiency (MSD), an autosomal recessive lysosomal storage disorder characterized by combined deficiencies of arylsulfatase A, iduronate-2-sulfatase, and related sulfatases.

This Assay Genie kit is intended for research use only and supports quantitative investigation of SUMF1 expression in cell culture supernatant, plasma, or serum specimens. The assay covers a working detection range of 0.156–10 ng/mL with intra-assay precision under 10% CV and is reactive with human SUMF1. Reagents are supplied in a microplate format; store unopened components refrigerated at 4 °C and protect from light to preserve activity. Applications include studies of sulfatase maturation, lysosomal disease mechanisms, and biomarker development for related neuropathology.
