Description

From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA Kit is specifically designed for the accurate quantification of human Succinate-semialdehyde dehydrogenase, mitochondrial (ALDH5A1) levels in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay shows reactivity with human samples and is reported to offer high sensitivity and specificity, ensuring reliable and reproducible results for a variety of research applications.

According to the manufacturer, the kit has a detection range of 78-5000pg/mL and a sensitivity of 39pg/mL. Reported precision values are Intra CV of 4.6% and Inter CV of 8.3%. Linearity was assessed in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma at 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 dilutions (N=5), with serum recovery averaging 95% (range 89-101%) and plasma recovery averaging 97% (range 91-103%).

ALDH5A1 is a vital enzyme involved in the metabolism of succinate semialdehyde, a key intermediate in the degradation of the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), and it catalyzes one step in GABA degradation. Dysfunction of this enzyme has been linked to metabolic disorders including hyperprolinemia type II and succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase deficiency. The enzyme, also known as Aldehyde dehydrogenase family 5 member A1, NAD(+)-dependent succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase and SSADH, is located in the mitochondrion as a homotetramer (UniProt P51649) and is supplied for cardiovascular research. For research use only.
