The Assay Genie STXBP1 ELISA Kit quantifies Syntaxin-binding protein 1 (also known as Munc18-1), a ~67 kDa member of the Sec1/Munc18 family that regulates SNARE-mediated synaptic vesicle fusion and neurotransmitter exocytosis. STXBP1 is highly expressed in central nervous system neurons, where it binds syntaxin-1A to control the docking and priming of vesicles at presynaptic terminals.

This assay supports research into STXBP1-linked neurodevelopmental disorders, including early infantile epileptic encephalopathy type 4 (EIEE4/Ohtahara syndrome), autism spectrum phenotypes, and synaptic dysfunction. The kit is calibrated for human STXBP1 and uses 100 µL of sample per well, enabling investigators to apply it to clinical specimens from patient cohorts for circulating biomarker correlations in translational neurology studies.
