The STIM2 protein detected by this Assay Genie kit is a calcium sensor embedded in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, where it activates ORAI1 channels to mediate store-operated calcium entry (SOCE). STIM2 has a higher calcium affinity than the related STIM1 protein and contributes more strongly to basal calcium homeostasis, making it a useful biomarker in studies of immune cell signaling, neuronal function, and tumor cell migration. The assay is validated for human STIM2 with no significant cross-reactivity observed against STIM1, supporting selective measurement in transfected cell lysates and primary lymphocyte samples.

The kit ships with a microplate pre-coated with capture antibody, along with biotinylated detection antibody, standard antigen, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, and wash buffer. Reconstituted reagents should be stored refrigerated and protected from light; the kit is intended for in vitro research use only.
