ST6GAL1 (ST6 beta-galactoside alpha-2,6-sialyltransferase 1) is a Golgi-resident sialyltransferase that catalyzes alpha-2,6-linked sialylation of N-glycans on mammalian glycoproteins. The PharmaGenie ELISA from Assay Genie is configured as a quantitative immunoassay for measuring human ST6GAL1 protein levels in cell culture supernatants, serum or plasma.

ST6GAL1 modulates IgG Fc glycan structure and influences antibody effector functions such as antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity. Altered ST6GAL1 expression has been reported across multiple carcinomas and is investigated as a contributor to tumor cell sialylation, changes in cell-surface phenotype, and metastatic behavior, making the protein a target of interest in oncology biomarker discovery.

Researchers use this ELISA to quantify ST6GAL1 secretion in conditioned media from cultured human cell lines, supporting studies on cytokine-driven regulation of glycosylation enzymes, B-cell maturation, and hepatic acute-phase responses. Compatible applications include glyco-engineering characterization and investigation of inflammation-associated shifts in serum glycoprotein sialylation.

The kit is supplied in a 96 assays format with the reagents required to generate a standard curve and measure ST6GAL1 in human-derived samples. The standard ELISA workflow applies: capture antibody immobilized on the plate, sample incubation, detection antibody binding, and an absorbance-based readout produced by an enzymatic color reaction that is quantified on a standard microplate reader.
