Description

A sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative detection of human squalene synthase (FDFT1). The assay is colorimetric, reactive with human samples, and validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids. It shows specificity for natural and recombinant human squalene synthase.

According to the manufacturer's specifications, the kit reports a detection range of 0.312-20ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.156ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is 5.8% and inter-assay CV is 9.9%. Linearity has been demonstrated in serum (82-115%), EDTA plasma (86-115%) and heparin plasma (91-115%) across dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16. Average recovery is 95% in serum (range 89-101%) and 97% in plasma (range 91-103%).

Squalene synthase (FDFT1) is the first specific enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis, catalysing the dimerization of two molecules of farnesyl diphosphate to form squalene at a branch point in the mevalonate pathway. The protein is a multi-pass membrane component of the endoplasmic reticulum (UniProt P37268) with a molecular weight of 43,060 Da, classified as EC 2.5.1.21. Intended for research use only, the kit supports studies in cardiovascular research, lipid metabolism and metabolic disorders.
