The SPTBN2 protein is a β-spectrin isoform predominantly expressed in cerebellar Purkinje neurons, where it stabilizes the axon initial segment and dendritic shafts. Loss-of-function mutations in SPTBN2 are causally linked to spinocerebellar ataxia type 5 (SCA5) and to early-onset cerebellar ataxia, making quantitative protein measurement valuable for neuroscience and neurodegeneration research.
This Assay Genie kit uses a human-specific capture antibody directed against β-III spectrin, supporting translational studies of motor-coordination disorders, membrane-cytoskeleton interactions, and neuronal development. The reagent set is supplied as a complete ELISA reagent pack on a microplate for in vitro quantification in clinical research samples.
