This quantitative immunoassay from Assay Genie targets human SPTA1, the gene encoding alpha-spectrin, a key structural component of the erythrocyte membrane skeleton that maintains red blood cell shape and mechanical stability. Researchers use this kit to investigate hereditary spherocytosis, hereditary elliptocytosis, neonatal hemolytic disorders, and broader erythrocyte membrane biology. Spectrin heterodimers form a horizontal lattice beneath the lipid bilayer through interactions with ankyrin, band 3, protein 4.2, and actin, so measuring circulating or cell-associated alpha-spectrin levels can support studies of membrane protein expression, cytoskeletal remodeling, and drug-induced hemolysis. The kit is supplied with a pre-coated microplate, capture antibody, detection reagent, calibrator standards, and diluents sufficient for 96 Assays; users should plan for roughly 50 uL of sample per well. Unopened components should be kept refrigerated; reconstituted standard aliquots should be stored frozen at -20°C to minimize freeze-thaw degradation of antibody binding activity. Intended for research use only.
