Description

Assay Genie offers this Sandwich ELISA kit for the quantitative detection of human Sphingosine-1-phosphate phosphatase 1 (SGPP1), an enzyme involved in sphingolipid metabolism. The assay is reactive with human samples and is intended for research use only.

Using a colorimetric detection method, the kit is validated for serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The detection range is 78–5000 pg/mL with a sensitivity of 39 pg/mL. Precision performance shows an intra-assay CV of 4.8% and an inter-assay CV of 7.9%. Linearity has been characterised in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma across serial dilutions, and recovery averages 88% (82–94%) in serum and 90% (84–96%) in plasma. The assay recognises natural and recombinant human SGPP1, identified by UniProt accession Q9BX95; reported synonyms include Sphingosine-1-phosphatase 1, Sphingosine-1-phosphate phosphohydrolase 1, SPP-1, SPPase1 and SPP1.

SGPP1 specifically dephosphorylates sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P), dihydro-S1P and phyto-S1P, supporting sphingosine recycling into the sphingolipid synthesis pathway and modulating ceramide levels. Dysregulation of the enzyme has been implicated in cancer, autoimmune disorders and neurodegenerative conditions, making it a biomarker of interest for disease research.
