Description

A high-quality Sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie for the quantitative measurement of human Sphingosine-1-phosphate lyase 1 (SGPL1), also known as Sphingosine-1-phosphate aldolase, S1PL, or KIAA1252. The kit uses a colorimetric detection method and is reactive with both natural and recombinant human SGPL1 in samples including serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids.

SGPL1 cleaves phosphorylated sphingoid bases such as sphingosine-1-phosphate into fatty aldehydes and phosphoethanolamine, and plays a critical role in sphingolipid metabolism. Dysregulation of SGPL1 has been linked to cancer, autoimmune disorders and metabolic diseases, making accurate quantification valuable for research into disease pathogenesis and potential therapeutic strategies. The kit supports the Signal Transduction research area and is for research use only.

Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 78-5000pg/mL, sensitivity of 36pg/ml, intra-assay CV of 5.8% and inter-assay CV of 7.9%. Linearity across dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16 in serum (N=5) ranged from 88-96% to 97-110%, with EDTA plasma at 84-117% and heparin plasma at 96-122%. Recovery averaged 80% in serum (range 80-86%) and 82% in plasma (range 80-88%). SGPL1 functions as a homodimer localised to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane as a single-pass type III membrane protein.
