SPERT (spermatid-associated protein) is a perinuclear RNA-binding protein expressed predominantly during spermiogenesis, where it localizes to the manchette of elongating spermatids and is thought to participate in post-transcriptional handling of germ-cell mRNAs. From Assay Genie, the Human SPERT ELISA Kit is a quantitative in vitro immunoassay built for research teams measuring this target in human specimens, and is widely used as a marker of spermatid maturation in male reproductive biology and fertility research. The kit is labeled for research use only and is not intended for diagnostic procedures.

Each kit is supplied as a 96-assay microplate configuration with pre-coated wells, calibrated standards, and detection reagents sufficient to construct a full standard curve. The procedure follows an antibody-pair immunoassay workflow: prepared samples and standards are incubated in coated wells, captured analyte is detected with a conjugated secondary antibody, and the resulting signal is read on a standard microplate reader. Reconstituted standards and concentrated detection reagents should be aliquoted and refrigerated to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles; unopened components should be stored refrigerated and protected from light, with shelf life governed by the lot-specific expiry printed on the vial labels.

Typical research applications include reproductive endocrinology studies, biomarker discovery in infertility cohorts, and characterization of SPERT expression in cell-culture models of germ-cell development. The kit is also used by groups screening for contraceptive-target candidates and by translational teams studying the molecular correlates of idiopathic male-factor infertility. Researchers are advised to consult the package insert shipped with each kit for detailed performance characteristics and recommended sample-preparation protocols.
