Human Spectrin alpha chain, brain (SPTAN1) ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA Kit is designed for the quantitative determination of human Spectrin alpha chain, brain (SPTAN1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and is intended for research use only.

The assay offers a sensitivity of 0.18ng/mL across a detection range of 0.312-20ng/mL, with reported precision of 5.9% intra-assay (Intra CV) and 9.1% inter-assay (Inter CV). Specificity is directed at natural and recombinant human Spectrin alpha chain, brain, and the kit also recognises the target's synonyms Alpha-II spectrin, Fodrin alpha chain, Spectrin non-erythroid alpha chain and SPTA2 (UniProt Q13813). Recovery averages 97% (range 91-103%) for serum and 99% (range 93-105%) for plasma.

Fodrin interacts with calmodulin in a calcium-dependent manner and is a candidate for the calcium-dependent movement of the cytoskeleton at the membrane. Mutations in the SPTAN1 gene have been associated with neurodegenerative disorders such as hereditary spastic paraplegia and epilepsy.
