The Assay Genie Human Somatostatin PharmaGenie ELISA Kit is built around a competitive immunoassay, so it quantifies somatostatin by letting sample peptide compete against a labelled reference for binding sites on antibody-coated wells. Somatostatin (also called SST-14) is a 14-amino-acid cyclic regulatory peptide released by the hypothalamus, pancreatic delta cells, and gastrointestinal tract, where it suppresses growth hormone and modulates insulin, glucagon, and gastrin secretion. The kit supports neuroendocrinology, metabolic disease, and gut hormone signalling research.

For use, undiluted serum or clarified culture supernatant is added to pre-coated wells with conjugate, then the bound fraction is quantified on a standard microplate reader. Specified performance includes a working range of 12.35 to 1000 pg/mL, a sensitivity near 5 pg/mL, and a sample volume of 50 uL per well. Reagents should be refrigerated in the supplied vials; reconstituted standards and conjugate must be shielded from light and protected from repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve antibody activity.
