The SGLT1 target is encoded by the SLC5A1 gene and functions as a secondary active transporter that couples sodium and glucose (or galactose) movement across the apical membrane of intestinal epithelial cells. The mature human transporter is approximately 75 kDa. Assay Genie provides this colorimetric kit in a microplate format, intended for research use only and quantitative measurement of SGLT1 levels in tissue homogenates and other biological samples, with a recommended sample volume of 100 μL per well.
SGLT1 expression is most abundant in the brush border of small intestine enterocytes, with additional distribution in the renal proximal tubule and cardiac tissue. Studies of this transporter support investigations into dietary glucose uptake, intestinal absorption disorders such as glucose-galactose malabsorption, and metabolic research into renal and cardiac glucose handling. Store the sealed microplate refrigerated between uses and protect from light to preserve antibody activity. Each vial of standard and detection reagent should be aliquoted to limit freeze-thaw cycles, helping maintain consistent performance across the workflow.
