Description

This Competitive-ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative measurement of human SOD1 (Superoxide Dismutase 1, Soluble) in human serum, plasma and other biological fluids. The assay uses a colorimetric method with a total run time of 2 hours 30 minutes, a sensitivity of 37.5 pg/mL and a detection range of 62.5–4000 pg/mL. Reported recovery is 80%–120%, and the recommended sample volume is 50 μL. Optical density is read at 450 nm ± 2 nm, with the colour changing from blue to yellow as the reaction proceeds.

The kit uses a competitive ELISA principle in which standards or samples compete with pre-coated antigen for binding to a biotinylated detection antibody, followed by addition of an Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate. It recognises human SOD1 with no significant cross-reactivity or interference between SOD1 and analogues. Reported intra-assay CV is 4.53%–5.85% and inter-assay CV is 8.09%–8.35%. Linearity has been demonstrated in serum, EDTA plasma and cell culture media across dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16. Dysregulation of SOD1 has been linked to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other neurodegenerative disorders, and the kit supports research into oxidative stress-related conditions.

Components include a dismountable micro ELISA plate, reference standard, concentrated biotinylated detection antibody (100×), concentrated HRP conjugate (100×), diluents, concentrated wash buffer (25×), substrate reagent, stop solution, plate sealer, technical manual and certificate of analysis. Most components are stored at 2–8 °C, with the plate, standard, biotinylated detection antibody and HRP conjugate stored at –20 °C. Components such as the reference standard and detection antibody are stable for 12 months under the indicated storage conditions. Research areas include Cancer, Cell Biology, Metabolism and Signal Transduction. Synonyms: ALS, ALS1, IPOA, Superoxide dismutase [Cu-Zn]. UniProt ID: P00441.
