As a core spliceosome component, SNRPD3 contributes to pre-mRNA splicing catalysis and snRNP biogenesis. Altered SNRPD3 levels have been studied in autoimmune disease, notably systemic lupus erythematosus, where anti-Sm autoantibodies recognize SNRPD1, SNRPD2, and SNRPD3 as key serological markers.
